Los Angeles, California. 2008
Located in Boyle Heights, a district of Los Angeles, the two story office building serves as the district office of the Social Security Administration. Designed in the 36 feet high limit area, the building houses a total of 15,000 square feet of office space over a semi-subterranean floor for parking. The ground floor contains waiting areas, client service counters, and interview rooms, while the upper floor houses the offices and conference rooms.
The architecture is expressed with painted precision masonry blocks and the front entry is accentuated with an inter-lapping metal panel. Bullet resistant frames and glazing are used to address the government's security concerns. Two cantilevered canopies identity the main entry along Soto Street.
